Covered learning decks and shaded verandahs extend junior classrooms into the bushland edge of the campus.
The brief asked for teaching spaces that could open outwards. A deep sheltered deck runs the length of the building, giving every class a second, outdoor room.
Timber-lined ceilings, a steel frame and a long servery bench establish a relaxed, robust palette that suits daily wear by young students.
Careful siting retains mature trees and keeps sightlines from the play fields through the building to the landscape beyond.
